Jordanian border guards have intercepted a spy plane intended for the Daesh terrorist group.

Border commander Brigadier Saber al-Mahayreh said that a pigeon carrying a letter sent by Daesh group to a Jordanian resident has been seized

“A spy plane intended to Jordanian territories has also been intercepted,” he added at a press conference Wednesday.

The border commander said that there are Daesh spies in the Al-Raqban refugee camp near the Jordanian border. “Necessary measures will be taken if there is any direct or indirect threat to the country’s security,” he said.

Mahayreh said that there are around 59,000 Syrian refugees in the Al-Raqban camp. “Most of these refugees are seeking to cross into Jordan,” he said.

Jordan shares a 375-km porous border with war-torn Syria, interspersed with informal crossings used by Syrian refugees.
