Tottenham have changed perceptions this season - Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen believes Tottenham Hotspur have changed perceptions about the club with their performances this season.

Monday's 2-2 draw at Chelsea ended Spurs' hopes of beating Leicester to the title but they are guaranteed their best ever Premier League finish, and are on course to achieve a record Premier League points haul.

Tottenham have long had a reputation as a talented but mentally fragile team, traits best epitomised by Sir Alex Ferguson's infamous prematch team talk to his Manchester United players: "Lads, it's Tottenham."

Eriksen believes Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs have answered their critics this season, however.

"People have changed their minds about how they see Spurs," the Denmark international told The Daily Mirror.

"Normally they are seen as [an] exciting but inconsistent team. Now it's a bit of both. It's exciting games and the style how we play.

"It's a good start and it's something we have forced people to believe in us. I think we have changed people's minds."

Leicester were confirmed as champions after Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard cancelled out first half goals from Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min at Stamford Bridge, leaving Spurs seven points behind the Foxes with two matches to play.

The visitors picked up a Premier League record nine yellow cards, while Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela are facing retrospective disciplinary action from the Football Association after off-the-ball incidents.

Eriksen believes Spurs showed their mettle at Stamford Bridge despite squandering the chance to win at Chelsea for the first time since 1990.

"In the last few seasons when we played Chelsea they tried to bully us. It has normally been Spurs backing down," he said.

"Luckily we turned it around and were able to play an even game. More for us in the first half, but it was an even game and it ended, unluckily for us, even."
