Firefighter, 18-month-old among 4 injured in Weymouth blaze
Officials believe fire started outside building
Fire officials say an 18-month-old and a Weymouth firefighter were among four people hospitalized after a blaze ripped through a suburban Boston apartment complex.
Deputy Fire Chief John Haslam says the fire at Queen Anne's Gate Apartments in Weymouth was reported around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters arrived to find flames extending from three apartments stacked on top of each other. Investigators believe the fire started from the outside and ran up the front of the building before making its way into the apartments.
A ladder crew rescued a mother and her child from the third floor of the 26-unit complex. The 18-month-old was taken to South Shore Hospital.
Haslam says he's unsure if the child's mother was one of the injured victims. The firefighter hospitalized was treated and released.
