It was a moment of pride for all Kannadigas when
Raam Reddy, the 26-year-old director of the international award-winning
Kannada film Thithi, was handed over the
National Award for the Best Kannada Film by President
Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Young Raam shared the occasion with stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and three-time National Award-winner, Kangana Ranaut. When asked about his experience, Raam said, "It was a very nice experience and it was exciting.
It was a very high-profile ceremony as Amitabh Bachchan and his family, SS Rajamouli, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kangana Ranaut were all present. It was a really commercial year at the National Awards, so all the superstars were around. Often, it is films that get international acclaim that also receive the National Award, but that wasn't the case this year. But that's not a bad thing.'
