Arrest of ex-chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari ordered for thrashing policeman on duty

Case was registered without any delay at Margala Police Station

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Inspector General (IG) has ordered arrest of former chairman Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and his guard for slapping a policeman after he tried to search them before entering a court, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

Case was registered without any delay at Margalla Police Station against the former chairman of Senate. The case against Bukhari was launched for interfering with official work. 

Reportedly, Bukhari was entering a court in F-8 when a policeman stopped him for checking. What seemed to be a standard procedure for the security guard was an act of disrespect for the ex-chairman.

Bodyguard of the former chairman Senate resorted to torture as well. Reportedly, the victimized security guard brought the matter in sessions judge’s notice but he did not pay heed.

Inspector General (IG) Tariq Masood Yasin has said that police personnel offer sacrifices of their lives for safety of VIPs and should not be treated the way Bukhari did. He has vowed to set an example out of the case for future.

This is not the first time a politician has taken offense to standard procedures and ‘no’. 

Member of National Assembly (MNA) Shahjehan Mangrio had thrashed a woman constable in October at the Parliament Lodges for not visiting her in her suite.

National People’s Party’s (NPP) Mangrio allegedly assaulted the constable on duty at the entrance. Afshan, the constable could not visit her in her suite because of her duty that got her beaten up by the member of National Assembly.

Separately, former MPA of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nighat Sheikh had beaten a bus hostess for serving water with delay. She was returning to Lahore from Murree. 

A committee formed by the Chief Minister (CM) had found Sheikh guilty of misusing her political standing.
