Six nabbed for drugs in Olongapo raid

OLONGAPO CITY—The police on Tuesday arrested six people and seized illegal drugs, firearms and rounds of ammunition during a raid in Barangay (village) Old Cabalan here.

The suspects were arrested at 9:45 p.m. on the strength of search warrants issued by a local court, said Chief Insp. Ferdinand Mendoza, head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Zambales.

The suspects are believed to be members of the Manny Barrongan Group, Mendoza said.

Confiscated from the suspects were a .22- cal. magnum, two .38-cal. revolvers, 46 rounds of live ammunition, nine sachets containing alleged “shabu” (metamphetamine hydrochloride), and cash.

The suspects are facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 and for possessing weapons in violation of the election gun ban.
