Mysuru: Over 8,000 job aspirants have registered their names for the six-day Army recruitment rally which began at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here from May 3. The rally is being conducted by Army Recruiting Office (Bengaluru) under the supervision Col Jayadeep Sharma.
Every day, around 1,500 aspirants will undergo various tests, including physical efficiency and fitness, and document verification.
Candidates from 19 districts, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagaram, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar and Chitradurga, are taking part in the rally, being held from 5.30am to 5pm.
The rally is aimed selecting candidates for the posts of soldier clerk, store-keeper, technical, soldier general duty, nursing assistance and soldier tradesman. According to officials, there is no scope for touts or anyone to influence the candidates. The recruitments are not only transparent, but also fair.
The candidates underwent physical fitness test involving 1.6km run in 5 minutes and 40 seconds, jumping across a 9ft ditch, zig-zag balance and pull-ups. This was followed by document verification and medical test. Successful candidates will take an entrance examination in Bengaluru on May 29.
Raghu, an aspirant from Kolar, said: "I want to serve my country. Right from my childhood I have been interested in getting into the Army. It's not easy to get into the Army as the tests are tough, especially the 1.6km running event which needs to be completed in just 5.40min."
