ABK awarded ‘Bank of the Year’ by Arabian Business – Bank recognized for successful ‘Simpler Banking’ strategy

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) won the ‘Bank of the Year’ award from Arabian Business, one of the foremost business magazines in the region. This prestigious award was received by Michel Accad, ABK’s Chief Executive Officer, during a ceremony held on May 2nd, 2016 at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel.

The Arabian Business Achievement Awards recognize and reward outstanding success, innovation and ethics in the region and in Kuwait.

The ‘Bank of the Year’ award acknowledges the Bank’s tremendous efforts in presenting its customers with differentiated services and products through the implementation of its unique ‘Simpler Banking’ strategy, which aims to deliver a simple and straightforward customer experience, while offering clients better security, convenience and speed when managing their banking needs.

The Bank also made several transformations throughout the past year, by deploying a series of enhancements and new developments to its systems and digital channels, along with substantial upgrades to its HR systems. ABK also introduced its new business strategy, vision and mission, coupled with the launch of its core values: Transparency, Integrity, Simplicity and Excellence – the four behavioral pillars around which the Bank bases its approach.

Commenting on the Award, Mr Accad said: “It is an honor to be named ‘Bank of the Year’ by Arabian Business and to have our efforts and hard work recognized on a regional level. 2015 was truly a transformational year for us. We implemented some key business and service initiatives, acquired a bank in Egypt, and witnessed our ‘Simpler Banking’ strategy materialize.

“I would like to thank our Chairman, Mr. Talal Behbehani, and our Board for the unwavering support they have given us.  I’d also like to congratulate the ABK team members and the various departments that worked hand in hand to continuously deliver outstanding results. This is proof of what we can accomplish as one team and we are excited by ABK’s future prospects.”

ABK’s acquisition of Piraeus Bank Egypt (PBE), which was completed in November 2015, is one of the major milestones in the Bank’s development and growth.  The new subsidiary will be rebranded ABK Egypt and the new identity will be rolled-out over the entire 39 branch network in the first half of 2016.
