A godown, where coir materials were stored, was completely gutted in a fire which broke out early morning at Rowdi Mukku of Kanjikuzhy near Cherthala.

Alappuzha: A godown, where coir materials were stored, was completely gutted in a fire which broke out early morning at Rowdi Mukku of Kanjikuzhy near Cherthala.
Six fire tenders were pressed into service by the Fire and Rescue service, whose personnel fought the blazing fire the more than 3.30 hours.
Four men were taken into custody by Mararikkulam polie and they are being quizzed in connection with the incident.

Sub-inspector Sreekanth Mishra told TOI they took four men in connection with the incident and they suspect that these youths set the godown on fire around 2.30 am following personal enmity.
"Now we are grilling them and aftersome time we can reveal more details like why they did the crime. The fire was doused at 6 am. The godown belonged to 58-year-old Pushpakaran, a coir businessman. The godown had 27 tonne coir and coir fibre. The godown supplied coir fibre to 180 places of Cherthala. The owner of the godown claimed that he has suffered a loss of Rs 20 lakh. However, we calculated a loss of around Rs 6 to 7 lakh," said Mishra.
