Karuna seeks Modi’s action on cash seizure in TN

Madurai, Tamil Nadu, May 4 (UNI) DMK President M Karunanidhi has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention in apprehending businessman C P Anbunathan, from whose premises at Karur, the police and the Income Tax department officials had recently seized huge amount of cash. Addressing an election rally yesterday, Mr Karunanidhi said,''Anbunathan had been acting as a middleman for leading politicians. I have communicated this to Mr Modi through my representatives, but, the Prime Minister has not acted on it. ''I request the Prime Minister to take action. Otherwise, these corrupt people will ruin the state and prevent politicians like me from doing our democratic duty in the election,'' he said. He also questioned the motive behind All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MP M Thambidurai’s demand to the Election Commission (EC) that the transfer of some officials be revoked in Tamil Nadu. Stating that the AIADMK wanted officials who are close to it around, he urged the EC to conduct the Assembly elections in a transparent manner. Charging that some persons were blocking the Sethu Samudram scheme by putting the blame on “Lord Rama,” Karunanidhi assured the people that the scheme would be implemented for the benefit of the State.
