I have no time for holidays: Shraddha Kapoor

Of her contemporaries, Shraddha Kapoor is the only girl to have delivered consecutive hits, post her breakthrough film Aashiqui 2 (it’s almost as if the two forgettable films that came before — Teen Patti and Luv Ka The End — have been erased from memory). And going by her upcoming films — OK Jaanu (remake), Rock On 2 (sequel) and Half Girlfriend (book-to-movie adaptation), that streak will continue. She gives us the low down on these films and how she’s prepping for them. Read on...

You have never repeated a co-star and now, you are finally doing your second film with Aditya Roy Kapur...

There’s no funda as such. It just happened. I guess we were at the right place at the right time. It so happened that both Aditya and I liked the script of OK Jaanu and we said yes to that.

How’s OK Jaanu shaping up?

It feels great. We have just wrapped up the first schedule and it’s been really fun. It’s been so nice to come back together in a more fun space which is not as intense as Aashiqui 2 where our smiles were measured. Here, we have to be happy people. The environment on the sets is amazing. My director Shaad Ali is great.

When do you start the next schedule?

We’ve already begun OK Jaanu immediately after Baaghi’s release and hopefully, we wrap up the whole film.

Is Rock On 2 over? When can we expect the trailer?

We have almost finished Rock On 2 and we only have a few days left. The trailer should be out around August. The film releases in November.

Was it a more happy space for you given that you love singing?

It’s amazing because I got to sing all my songs. I have sung about three or four songs in the film but I don’t remember how many songs there are in the film.

What kind of training you are taking up for Half Girlfriend?

I am not playing a Bihari, so I am not learning Bihari. But I also have to train in basketball, so I will join Arjun Kapoor soon. I play a Delhi girl and it will be interesting to play such a character. Yesterday, we were at Mohit’s house where Chetan Bhagat said that he wants me to meet this interesting Delhi girl for observation.

Have you read the book?

I haven’t read the book as of now. I mean I am sure they might tweak it a bit, but it will be only for legitimate reasons.

Aren’t you doing Don 3?

No, it’s not been offered to me. I don’t even know if it’s even being made right now.

Other than these, what are the other films you are in talks with?

There are a couple of films I have been reading and I really liked. There are two films I am in talks for. I think they will be very exciting and interesting films to be a part of. Then, possibly in due time, I can share that with you guys. Right now, my plate is quite full till the year-end. I love being in front of the camera but I also don’t mind taking a break soon. Just for a holiday, but I have no time for that currently.
