Bhopal: A man lost his leg while trying to board a train at Bhopal Junction station on Tuesday. Jeetu Chauhan, 35, was travelling with his wife and two children on the Gorakhpur-LTT Express.
When the train arrived at Bhopal at about 2pm, he got down to buy some eatables. As the halt was of 5 minutes only, the train had already started moving by the time he turned around after buying food.
He ran to board his S1 coach. But, as ill luck would have it, he slipped and his right leg was dismembered after getting stuck in the gap between platform and the train.
Upon hearing his screams, passengers pulled the chain and stopped the train. RPF placed Jeetu on a stretcher and sent him on 108 ambulance to Hamidia Hospital.
His wife Sheela said that they belong to Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh and Jeetu works in Mumbai.
She said they were returning to Mumbai after attending a marriage function. tnn
