Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Control Units (CU) were despatched from the Kamaraj Higher Secondary School in the city to the eight Assembly segments through a process of computerised randomisation.
District Collector and District Election Officer S. Prabakar inspected the process along with general observer for Modakurichi and Perundurai segments Digvijay Singh and representatives of political parties.
In Perundurai and Anthiyur segments where there are more than 15 contestants, one control unit and two EVMs are being sent to each booth. For every segment, EVMs and control units were sent in excess by 15 per cent.
Accordingly, 283 CUs and 566 EVMs were sent to 246 polling booths in Perundurai segment and 288 CUs and 576 EVMs were despatched to the 250 polling booths in Anthiyur constituency.
In Erode East where there are 225 polling booths, 259 EVMs and equal number of CUs were despatched.
The 257 booths in Modakurichi segment were provided with 296 EVMs and equal number of CUs.
In Bhavani constituency where there are 272 booths, 313 EVMs and 313 CUs were provided, and for the 292 booths in Gobichettipalayam, 336 EVMs and equal number of CUs were despatched, while Bhavani Sagar segment with 289 booths received 332 CUs and same number of EVMs.
For 275 out of the 285 booths in Erode West segment where there are more than 1,300 voters, 334 VVPAT (Voter Verification Paper Audit Trail) machines were also provided.
Alongside, for the 285 booths, 328 CUs and 328 EVMs were despatched.
