Farmers demand compensation, disrupt work at LDA office
Lucknow: Lucknow Development Authority work remained disrupted for several hours when hundreds of farmers laid siege to the building in Gomti Nagar, holding employees of the utility hostage, on Tuesday.
Many people visiting LDA office for business purpose had to return disappointed as protesting farmers locked up both gates of the office not allowing people to enter.
Farmers associated with Gomtinagar extension, Vasant Kunj and Kanpur Yojana were demanding compensation which has been pending for last three years.
"I took leave from office to get my house map passed, but had to return because of the protest," said Indiranagar resident Neeraj Pandey.
Many who turned up to check status of their property-related issues, had to go back without getting the work done. The matter was resolved when LDA vice chairman Satyendra Singh assured the farmers that their demands would be met.
