100 Congress Surat supporters resigned from the party

Earlier, Naik was opposition leader in SDP. Though, this year, Vipul Patel replaced him as the opposition leader.

Those who resigned, on Tuesday, alleged Anand Chaudhary and Tushar Chaudhary of shielding those workers who indulged in anti-party activities during recently concluded elections of taluka and district panchayats.

However, Tushar Chaudhary defended the show cause notice given to Naik and held the issue of resignations by local workers as an attempt to exert pressure on the party by Naik.

“We have given notice to Darshan for not remaining present in the organisational meetings of the party. Till now he did not attend a single meeting. The opposition hype is created by him as he has not been made opposition leader in Surat District Panchayat. Some of the Congress leaders who have given resignations were found to be with BJP and they are loyalist of him. Darshan Naik is creating hype to put pressure on the party,” said Tushar Chaudhary.

Naik, on the other hand, says, “I have remained absent in three such meetings, and for that the Congress party president Anand Chaudhary has given be notice, this is not good.”

Naik alleged that many members remain absent in meetings, but only he got notice.

“There is no provision in Congress party constitution wherein a member, if remained absent, should be given notice. I am running three offices of Congress party in Surat, Olpad and Mandvi and I regularly oppose the scams done by BJP leaders in the District Panchayat. I have not attended any BJP meeting and have not done any anti-party activity,” he said.

“Both the Congress leaders (Anand Chaudhary and Tushar Chaudhary) are personally targeting me. If I have not remained present in the meeting, they should personally call me and talked to me, why should they give such notice,” he added.
