Two women of the same family who had migrated to Pune from drought-hit Parbhani district of Marathwada, were crushed under a road roller at a road construction site in Wadgaon Maval on Tuesday morning.
As per information given by Wadgaon Maval police station, the two deceased have been identified as Gangubai Ambore (40) and the daughter-in-law of her sister, Meera Ambore (25). The two originally hail from Ambarwadi village in Jintur in Parbhani district. Police said that the Ambore family had moved to Pune over a week ago and the two women were working on a road construction project on Talegaon MIDC Road.

The station duty officer at Wadgaon Maval police station said, “At around 9.30 am, the two women were sitting under a roadroller for shade. The two were having their food, when the driver started the vehicle and moved a bit. The two were crushed under the wheels and died on the spot.”
Police said that the driver fled following the incident. Other workers, agitated at the accident site and family members, refused to take the bodies. The situation became normal after police intervened.
