Cops release youth who hurled slipperat chief minister

Patna: The youth, who had hurled a slipper on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar during his janata darbar on Monday, was released from Secretariat police station on Tuesday after he furnished a personal release (PR) bond and also gave in writing that he would not repeat the act in future.
The Secretariat police, however, have registered a case against the youth, Nitish Kumar Sharma, under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the IPC.

"His grandfather and mother reached the secretariat police station here this morning. We got a PR bond filled-up by the accused in the presence of his family members," Secretariat SHO Amarendra Jha told TOI on Tuesday.
He said the youth was arrested and released as per the provisions under Section 41A (1) of the CrPC under which an accused can be released from police station in all such crimes punishable for less than seven years of imprisonment with or without fine.
It is widely believed that police released Sharma because of the advice of Nitish who had asked DGP P K Thakur not to take any punitive action against the youth. Sharma was angry over the state government's recent decision to ban cooking of food and 'havan' during daytime to check incidents of fire.
Sharma was in the queue of complainants at the CM's janata darbar and threw his 'chappal' at him when he was poring over the petition of another complainant standing ahead of Sharma. As the security personnel were about to thrash Sharma, the CM had intervened and offered him a chair.
