Pilar Guzmán and Chris Mitchell Renovate Their Stunning East Hampton, New York, Home
1/15Renovating an 1890s Shingle Style home in East Hampton, New York, became an irresistible and deeply rewarding challenge for media power duo Pilar Guzmán and Chris Mitchell. (She’s the editor of Condé Nast Traveler and he’s the publisher of Vanity Fair, both produced by Architectural Digest’s parent company, Condé Nast.) The Barlow Tyrie chaise longues and RH umbrella feature a Sunbrella fabric. On the terrace, a teak RH table is surrounded by Tolix chairs from Design Within Reach.

3/15Some prerenovation sleuthing in the living room revealed a beamed ceiling that had been covered with Sheetrock, which the couple promptly had removed. Pairs of vintage chairs by Børge Mogensen (left) and Kaare Klint are grouped with a sofa by John Derian; Saarinen side tables by Knoll from Design Within Reach are topped with lamps by Thomas O’Brien for Visual Comfort, and a painting by Jennifer Ament hangs above the mantel.
