Blue De Vega is to be prepared for the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas following his promising reappearance at the Curragh on Monday.

The Michael O'Callaghan-trained colt put in his best work at the finish when runner-up to the highly-regarded Awtaad, who was receiving 3lb, in the Tetrarch Stakes over seven furlongs.

Connections are now looking forward to stepping Blue De Vega up to a mile.

"It was very promising. He needed it and it will put him spot on," said David Redvers, racing manager to owners Qatar Racing.

"He also needs further, so we'll come back for the Irish Guineas."
