Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is using malwares through mobile gaming and music applications to snoop on Indian security forces.

The Intelligence Bureau has alerted security forces about ISI's nefarious designs. The IB, in its report, mentions that the Pakistani snooping agency is using mobile phone apps such as Top Gun (gaming app), mpjunkie (music app), vdjunky (video app), talking frog (entertainment app) to lure Indian security personnel.

Security agencies have been alerted about the latest ISI ploy. The ISI is also making efforts to trap ex-servicemen in the garb of providing job opportunities and financial aid for spying.

Defence expert PK Sehgal said that security forces need to prepare themselves to thwart such snooping attempts from ISI. He also pointed out that senior officers should also keep a tab on activities of jawans.

During 2013 to 2016, seven ex-servicemen were arrested for espionage activities for the ISI.

Just days before the January 2 Pathankot terror attack, a former Indian Air Force officer, Ranjith KK, was arrested for sharing classified information with the ISI.

Ranjith was a leading aircraftman with the IAF and was posted at Bhatinda before he was dismissed and arrested following a joint operation by the Delhi Police's crime branch, military intelligence and the Air Force Liasoning Unit.
