Director Vikram Kumar, who hogged the limelight with "Manam," has revealed that Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is interested to remake the Telugu movie in Hindi.

Vikram Kumar is now busy promoting his next venture "24," starring Suriya. In an interview to IANS, the director confirmed the news about the Hindi remake of "Manam." He said he met Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently in Mumbai and explained to him his plans for the Bollywood remake. But nothing has been confirmed yet.

"When I was recently shooting in Mumbai, I had met him with regard to the film's Hindi remake. Though we haven't arrived at anything substantial yet, he was interested in the idea of remaking the film in his production," IANS quoted Vikram Kumar as saying.

Written by Vikram Kumar, "Manam" was a family drama revolving around six-year-old Bittu, who loses his parents in an unfortunate car accident. Thirty years later, Bittu comes across two collegians who are the reincarnation of his late parents. The film starred actors from three generations of the Akkineni clan — late Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya and Akhil.

"Manam," which happened to be the last movie of late legendary actor, was released in theatres on May 23, 2014. The movie was received well by the audience and critics, who were impressed with the story. The movie has become one of the biggest Tollywood money-spinners of the year.

Vikram had planned to remake "Manam" in Tamil and had approached Suriya, his brother Karthi and their father Sivakumar for the lead roles. But Suriya ended up doing "24." "I had approached Suriya with the offer. However, we ended up doing '24' instead. I don't think it [the remake] will happen in Tamil," the director said.
