Ranveer Singh, who has had a cracker of a year last year, has taken the top slot in the Times 50 Most Desirable Men 2015. Virat Kolhi, Fawad Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra are other A-listers filling up the top five positions.
The "Bajirao Mastani" actor, whose every interview is candid and straight from the heart, doesn't make an exception with his recent one with the Times of India either. After winning the title, he told the leading daily that he doesn't mind being considered a piece of meat and is okay with being objectified. "It gives me a kick when I am told, 'Haye kitna hot hai,'" he added.
Growing up, he was obese and hardly a ladies' man. After one of the summer vacations, during which he had gained a few inches and lost some pounds, he became attractive enough for girls. But Ranveer believes physical attractiveness isn't the only factor that makes a person desirable.
"It has more to do with the person's personality, their gift of the gab, wit, honesty, intelligence and their general vibe," he elaborated.
It wasn't only during his formative years that he has had to struggle with his outwardly appearance. In 2010, when Ranveer was launched in "Band Baaja Baaraat" by Yash Raj Films' head honcho Aditya Chopra, he was told he would have to act well because he doesn't look good. Today, even though he is invading a million dreams courtesy his inimitable charm and wit, he is aware of the fact that he isn't "conventionally good looking."
"I have grown up believing that when an individual excels at what he does, it makes him desirable. I am a living example that lack of conventional good looks shouldn't hinder you from being awesome," he added.
Describing himself as "mercurial, moody and sexy," the spunky actor also deconstructed his idea of fashion for the publication. Ranveer said his style is "edgy." He doesn't believe in playing safe and wears anything that catches his fancy, even if that means wearing an "obnoxious looking shirt."
"I like colours and prints. Monotones bore the hell out of me. And I can't stand the fact that men get stuck between black, white and grey. My dressing depends on my mood and my feelings are definitive of my style," TOI quoted him as saying.
He finished the interview pointing out what he finds most attractive in women. Apart from being a "good, genuine woman," she should also have a sense of humour so that he can make a conversation with her. "I like women who enjoy music, movies and sports," he added.
When asked whom does he consider the most desirable woman in the world, he said: "Ab mein boloonga to bolenge ke bolta hai. Most desirable man ke paas, most desirable woman hi hogi. Samajhdaar ko ishara hi kaafi hai. Well, all I can say is... meri wali."
