SIPTU has failed to secure a 15pc pay increase it was seeking for members at loss-making logistics firm Flextronics.

However, in a dispute that went before the Labour Court, the court has recommended that workers at the firm receive a 5pc pay increase over two years.

The firm has a total of 205 staff in its Irish operation.

It employs 92 workers in Limerick and 96 in Cork with about 27pc of the workers members of the union.

The most recently accounts filed by Irish Express Cargo Ltd - trading as Flextronics - show that the firm recorded a pre-tax loss of €4.8m in spite of revenues jumping to €15.2m in the 12 months to the end of March last year. In its case before the Labour Court, Siptu sought a 15pc pay increase for employees - 5pc from April 2015; 5pc from April 2016 and 5pc from April 2017.
