Bhubaneswar: CRPF personnel and Jharkhand police recovered a 35-kg tiffin bomb from a railway track near Topadihi under K Balang police limits in Sundargarh district on Monday. The spot is close to the Odisha-Jharkhand boundary, Government railway police (GRP) sources said. The driver of a goods train informed the GRP and his senior authorities about the bomb.

According to South Eastern Railways (SER) assistant security commissioner Alok Kumar Jena, the railways got information about the bomb around 5.30 am. It was recovered two hours later. The CRPF personnel were camping near Karamapadu station under Chakradharpur railway division.
Jena said the CRPF personnel defused the bomb. Train services resumed by 1 pm after a patrol engine certified the Rangra-Karamapadu line conducive for plying of trains, he added.
Sub-divisional police officer (Bonai) S R Mohapatra said the place of occurrence comes under Kiriburu police station in Jharkhand. "We suspect it might be the handiwork of Maoists. As the place is very close to the Odisha border, we have kept a close watch on the activities of the extremists," he added. Police sources said in 2006 the Maoists torched three diesel locomotives at Topadihi railway station.
