BSP MP Kashyap’s plea to attend House opposed

Ghaziabad: BSP Rajya Sabha MP Narendra Kashyap's bail application in dowry death case, saying he wanted to attend the ongoing parliament session, has been opposed by his daughter-in-law's father. The latter claimed that the parliamentarian enjoys significant clout in Ghaziabad and could influence the case from outside.
Kashyap, his wife Devendri and son Sagar has been lodged in Ghaziabad's Dasna jail since April 7 after his 32-year-old daughter-in-law Himanshi died under mysterious circumstances on April 6.
Kashyap's bail application was scheduled to be heard in the district court on Monday, but it has been postponed to May 5 due to a delay in submission of documents and forensic reports by the police.
The MP had filed another application before the chief judicial magistrate of Ghaziabad on April 27, seeking exemption to attend the Parliament. The girl's father, Hiralal Kashyap, has filed an objection plea, arguing that it should be rejected because it seems dubious.
"The exemption application filed by Narendra Kashyap mentions that he had received an invitation letter from the secretary general of Rajya Sabha asking him to attend Parliament from April 25 to May 13. However, the original invitation letter has not been attached to the application," reads the objection letter.
It further states, "A photocopy of the invitation letter from Rajya Sabha has been attached to the application but it neither carries the signature, the
seal nor the letter head of the secretary-general. The application had not been submitted by Narendra Kashyap in person. There is no affidavit either from Kashyap with the application. These are sufficient grounds for rejecting the application."
Speaking to TOI, Hiralal Kashyap said Narendra Kashyap should not be allowed bail or exemption. "He enjoys a lot of clout in Ghaziabad. The charges levelled against him are of a very serious nature. A fair investigation and trial is impossible if he is freed," he said.
