: The State government should clarify whether the students who attended the recent EAMCET may skip the ensuing NEET, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy has said.
Addressing the first meeting of the recently-constituted National Students Union of India (NSUI) at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Monday, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said that it was up to the students union to take to task the State government for several of its lapses. He said that State government was saying that it would approach the Supreme Court, but it was not clear whether EAMCET that the students in the State appeared for recently was still valid or not.
This confusion was basically due to the negligence of the State government, though the decision was announced in 2012 it had not taken any action. He demanded that a clear statement be made by the government in the next 24 hours.
He urged the NSUI executive committee members not to wait till the schools and colleges were opened and be proactive in school and college fees. He said schools and colleges should fix the fee based on the infrastructure, faculty and facilities available in respective educational institutions. This was done by the Congress when it was in power for institutions that were in the free re-imbursement scheme. He suggested to the leaders to give representations to the DEOs and the Collectors. He asked the NSUI to promote awareness about Special Category Status and other benefits due to the State from the Central government.
