The Supreme Court on Monday rejected telecom regulator Trai’s plea seeking transfer of Idea Cellular’s petition from the Gujarat High Court to the Delhi High Court, which is hearing a similar plea by Vodafone Mobile Service and its group companies.
The telecom operators have challenged Trai’s Telecommunication Interconnect Usage Charges (Eleventh Amendment) Regulations 2015, which came into effect from March 1, 2015, by which it has fixed termination charges for wireline to wireless as zero paise and wireless to wireless to `0.14 per minute. The Delhi HC has sought Trai’s response in the Vodafone case. Another similar petition by Bharti Airtel is also pending before the Delhi HC.
