59 IMFL bottles seized

A total of 59 IMFL bottles being sold illegally at four places in the district were seized by flying squad personnel on Monday. Cases have been registered against Pazhani of Kallapatti near Veppanthattai, Kalaivananof Esanai, Kumar of Arumbavur and Bhoopathy of Karai. The IMFL bottles were handed over to the police.

Collector visits counting centre

Strict action will be taken against those found violating the election rules, said S. Swarna, Collector. Addressing election officials, she explained the procedure to be followed for the free and fair conduct of elections. Earlier, the Collector visited the Government Women’s College here where the votes will be counted on May 19.

The flying squad personnel, on Tuesday, seized Rs.1,67,000 at Four Road junction here from Sivaraman of Thuraimangalam who was proceeding by a two-wheeler from Kaulpalayam to Perambalur. The seizure was effected for want of adequate documents during a vehicle check-up. The cash was handed over to R. Baby, Revenue Divisional Officer.
