Both the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam should be thrown out of the State to establish a corruption-free government and ensure transparent administration. It will be the last chance for people to save the State from the clutches of the two parties, according to Rajya Sabha member and Communist Party of India (Marxist) T.K. Rangarajan.

Campaigning for party candidate M. Pandi here on Sunday night, he said that ‘Two Leaves’ and ‘Rising Sun’ were not the family gods of voters. It was not right time to show sentiments. Both the parties should be defeated to save the State, he stressed.

The DMK was trying to deceive minorities in Dindigul. DMK candidate M. Basheer Ahmad was a bait to garner Muslim votes. The minorities should not forget that Mr. Karunanidhi did not raise his voice over Gujarat violence and described it as an issue of another State, he said.

He said both the Dravidian parties had been trying to cheat people on prohibition. Would Mr. Karunanidhi order party leaders to close down liquor factories owned by them or would Ms. Jayalalithaa do it?, he asked.

Liquor was fetching a revenue of Rs. 24,000 crore to the State. Neither the DMK nor the AIADMK discussed alternative mechanism to generate revenue. They did not mention it in manifesto, he pointed out. Campaigning in Chinnalapatti on Sunday, he said Ms. Jayalalithaa and DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin planned to thrash R. Viswanathan and I. Periyasamy respectively.
