A man from Bihar’s Arwal district threw a slipper wrapped in paper towards CM Nitish Kumar during his janta darbar in Patna Monday. The slipper fell short of the CM. While police detained the man, incidentally named Nitish (25), no case has been lodged, as per the CM’s instruction.
The man was reportedly upset over the state’s government advisory against cooking, performing hawans and burning wheat husk between 9 am and 6 pm. The advisory came after recent fire incidents. The CM said: “I did not notice first, but when I saw some policemen nabbing the youth, I asked them not to do him harm”. Police said the youth would be released after questioning.

Sources said Arwal police has been asked to seek information about the unemployed man.
Meanwhile, reacting to JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s statement disapproving the liquor ban, Nitish said: “Some people do not have knowledge of laws. Drinking is not a fundamental right.”
