The Broncos waived safety Ryan Murphy and punter Will Johnson Monday, creating room to sign their crop of college free agents.
Murphy, a 2015 seventh-round pick by Seattle, signed to the Broncos practice squad on November 3 where he stayed for the rest of the season.
He was sent back to Denver early during Super Bowl week after he was detained and questioned for involvement with a prostitution sting in San Jose, Calif. Murphy was not charged in the incident.
He was one of nine players re-signed to futures contracts in February.
Johnson, who signed a futures contract in January, became expendable when the Broncos spent a seventh-round pick on punter Riley Dixon Saturday. Dixon and incumbent Britton Colquitt likely will battle for the punter job throughout training camp.
