Bengaluru: The Vijayadashami release of his son's movie, Jaguar, seems to be keeping JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy quite busy and swamped. So much so that barring a few public events and shooting off a letter to the government on the drought situation, the former chief minister has found no time to tour or even seek reports from the affected districts.
The party has been keeping a low profile instead of trying to pick on what was lacking in the government's relief works.
Over the past few months, Kumaraswamy has been shuttling between Mysuru and Bengaluru in connection with the movie which will be released under the family banner of Chennambika Films. The Rs 15-crore movie has been under production for the past three to four months. The first part was completed in Mysuru on the Infosys campus last week.
JD(S) deputy floor leader YSV Datta said the party does not want to gain any kind of political mileage and media attention like the BJP or do a shoddy job like chief minister Siddaramaiah who toured drought-hit districts in two days.
"The BJP has been attacking the government for doing a shoddy job of the drought situation. It's well known that the BJP has been undertaking district tours for political gain. We are neither interested in political mileage nor are we looking at doing a shoddy job. We will soon come up with a plan to redress woes of the people in parched districts," claimed Datta.
When contacted, Kumaraswamy's office said the leader did not wish to give any reaction.
