A former Boston University hockey player who was left paralyzed after his first game has been inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.WLBZ-TV reports that Travis Roy was among 11 athletes honored at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Sunday.Roy's career was cut short in 1995 after he crashed head-first into the boards during his first shift in a BU uniform.More than two decades later, the Maine native has helped move research along with the Travis Roy Foundation. He's also an honorary member of the Boston Bruins and an inspirational speaker.The Former BU Coach Jack Parker was in the audience on Sunday. A former Boston University hockey player who was left paralyzed after his first game has been inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.
