New Delhi, May 2
The Akali Dal is all set to contest the 2017 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh in alliance with “like-minded” parties. The party has set up an in-house committee to identify its potential in 40-45 constituencies in the 404-seat UP Assembly.
SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said the Akali Dal would launch a concerted campaign in UP to redress the problems being faced the Sikhs and Punjabi community there.
The SAD will have an organised structure of the party in the poll-bound state. Former UP Chief Secretary Rai Singh was today appointed party in charge of UP.
Sukhbir also formed a five-member committee to identify the potential on 40-45 seats it plans to contest. The committee comprising Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Manjit Singh GK and Avtar Singh Hit. — TNS
