CM visits village that rose against Naxals

Jajawal, Chhattisgarh, May 2 (UNI) As part of the Lok Suraaj Abhiyan, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today visited this Surguja District village – which has the distinction of being the first to raise its voice against the rebels – praised the sheer courage of the locals and announced development work including an electricity sub-station, a stop dam and a panchayat building.
Until some years back, Surguja Division – bordering Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh – used to be infamous for ultras’ terror tactics on the lines of Bastar Division. Providentially, peace returned owing to the state government’s efforts coupled with campaigns run by security forces teaming up with residents.
“Inspiration from Jajawal’s inhabitants resulted in awareness in other villages,” Dr Singh averred.
