Teacher transfer: Akhtar says ready for inquiry

Srinagar, May 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Naeem Akhtar has requested Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to initiate an impartial inquiry into allegation that he facilitated transfer of a teacher wrongly in his home district Bandipora in north Kashmir.
“I request, the Chief Minister to institute an impartial inquiry into the accusations made in the news report and if the said teacher is found to be in my close or distant relation, I am ready to take the next logical step,” Mr Akhtar said in a statement issued here.
“While I am extremely disturbed by a fabricated news report appearing in local English daily today regarding transfer of a teacher in district Bandipora, it is at the same time a matter of great satisfaction for me that the newspaper had to resort to a completely concocted story to tarnish the image of the Education Department and my personal reputation as there are no wrongdoings in the Department, as was the case earlier, which could be played up against me, he said.
