286 food samples failed during last year : Vij

Chandigarh, May 2 (UNI) Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that out of 2515 samples of food items collected by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during last year, 286 were found to be adulterated, misbranded and sub-standard.
Mr Vij said that the decline of adulterated products in the market reflects strictness being exercised by the government to inspect. Besides this, 74 samples of intoxicants; supari, gutka and pan masala were collected by the FDA in the last few months. Out of these, only two samples were found adulterated and misbranded. The department has also initiated legal action against them.
The Minister said that 14,413 Food Business Operators were registered for providing pure and nutritious food products and 6,784 shopkeepers were issued food licenses during the year 2015-16,in the state.
