Akhilesh appeals farmers to provide land for Purvanchal expressway

BALLIA: Showing intention to begin works on his dream project of constructing `Purvanchal Expressway’ to link Ballia, Ghazipur and other east UP districts with Lucknow-Agra-Delhi expressway chief minister Akhilesh Yadav appealed to the farmers of this region to provide land for it if they wanted a brightened future of their coming generations.
Akhilesh on Monday held two grand shows in Ballia, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mega show of launching Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana in the district on Sunday.Asking Bhartiya Janata Party to compare the show of strength with SP’s Monday’s rally to assess their support base Akhilesh said, “PM had come here to launch a scheme to provide LPG to poor families. In this scheme of PM the poor will get only free connection of LPG cylinders. However, SP government is ensuring better financial assistance to poor families under its all pension schemes. We are also bringing the Purvanchal Expressway in the interest of farmers and poor only.”
The proposed Purvanchal Expressway will have big depots for selling the agricultural products of farmers, which will boost their economy, he said adding, “Due to the same reasons we are appealing to the farmers to provide their land for this project. We created a history by taking land from farmers to construct Lucknow-Agra-Delhi expressway in a record time. Netaji (SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav) wants to see this project coming on floor before 2017 assembly election.” He also highlighted the importance of good road connectivity for development.
Expressing his hopes from east UP in forthcoming UP election Akhilesh said, “This time we have ensured better development of infrastructure, education and health services even better than Kannoj and Iatawa. My government has performed outstandingly in improving power scene in the state. Soon the people would enjoy facilities like 102 and 108 ambulance by dialing 100 to call police in any emergency situation. We have worked on all fronts and if people would give another opportunity to SP the pace of development works would be increased.”
He also asked the people to compare the performance of his government with the works of his predecessor Mayawati and also with performance of BJP led NDA government at center, which has completed two years. Akhilesh laid foundation stones of 30 projects including of Chandrashekar University and sports college. On the demand of local leaders he announced to give a by-pass road for Ballia and a bridge on river Ganga near Shivpur Ghat.
