Gujarat CM dedicates solar Anganwadi for children
AHMEDABAD: Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel dedicated a solar-powered Anaganwadi for children at Panwad in Kanwat taluka. Patel said that Gujarat Government is implementing Rs.40,000-crore Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojna for all round development of the forest people living in the state’s eastern belt from Ambaji in the north to Umbergaon in the south.
She was speaking at the Van Bandhu Sammelan organized at Kanwat in the Chhotaudepur district, she said the project is meant for social, economic and educational uplift of the forest people and to improve their standard of life.

She said the government has started Dudh Sanjivani Yojna to eradicate malnutrition among children in 43 predominantly tribal talukas in the state’s eastern belt. This is besides free medical checkup of diabetes and other diseases in government dispensaries, free screening of 80-lakh women and treatment of 1,100 women cancer patients.
She resolved to end the drinking water problem in Kanwat taluka with Rs.125-crore Hapeshwar water supply project, and also build sheds to store forest produces.
She said that it was a matter of pride that Payal Rathwa among others students from Chhotaudepur participate in archery, kho-kho and karate among others at the international meet, in Mongolia.
Tribal welfare minister Mangubhai Patel asked the tribal people to join the various schemes for the latter’s development. He said 83 lakh tribal youth have been screened for sickle cell disease, necessary before marriage in their community.
