Sweeper found dead in Jodhpur factory, rape suspected: Cops

Jodhpur: A female sweeper was found dead in a handicraft unit here on Sunday morning. Police have suspicion on the guard of the unit, who has been missing since morning. Police have got the post-mortem done and have started the investigation.
Though, the cause of the death is not yet known but circumstances suggest that the cleaner was subject to an attempt of rape and in resistance, she was killed by the attacker."We have our needle of suspicion on the guard of the factory Sudamaram, who has been missing since the incident," said a police official.
According to the police, a sweeper Sushila Kandara (35), was engaged by a handicraft unit Suncity Handicraft in Basni area. She would come every evening for sweeping before the staff would come. "On Sunday morning, we received an information that her body was lying in the factory campus, which was noticed by an employee, who had gone there to collect some packing material," said the official. "On observation, we found her throat slit and clothes torn giving rise to the suspicion of rape. The spot also indicated that somebody might have attacked her to rape her but on facing a stiff resistance from her, he killed her with a knife slitting her throat," police said.
He further said that usually there was always a guard to look after the factory but when the police reached the spot, the guard was missing and was not traceable making him a prime suspect in the case.
