Car skids off road near Sakhali

A Maharashtra-registration car going from Sakhali to Poriem fell into a roadside gorge after it skidded off the road near Tulshimala mutt at Sakhali on Sunday evening.

Bicholim: A Maharashtra-registration car going from Sakhali to Poriem fell into a roadside gorge after it skidded off the road near Tulshimala mutt at Sakhali on Sunday evening.
A tragedy was averted as the car got caught by roadside trees and a steel-wire railing, preventing it from falling further down the slope into Mhadei river about 50 metres away from the road.

The car was going from Goa to Maharashtra via Chorla Ghat. About 100 meters ahead of Tulshimala-Sakhali mutt, the driver lost control and the car went off the road and got trapped in the gorge in a precarious way. Both the riders escaped unscathed with the timely intervention of the locals. Raghoba Pednekar, a professor, alerted the police about the accident.
On noticing the fact that car met with an accident and two occupants trapped inside are in danger prof. Raghoba Pednekar who was proceeding from this area raised an alarm and alerted the citizens. He then removed them safely out of the car with the help of locals. The car that got stranded into the gorge due to support of roadside trees and steel wire railings was in such a situation that it may fall into the river at any time thus resulting into a major tragedy. Thus, alertness of prof. Pednekar saved the life of two persons.
