MUMBAI: The Bandra-Worli
sea link will be partially shut for
traffic on
two days for work of laying of
asphalt.
The south-bound lane (from Bandra to Worli) will be shut from 10 pm on Monday (May 2) up to 6am on Tuesday. Similarly, the north-bound lane (Worli to Bandra) will be
closed from 10pm on Tuesday (May 3) to 6am on Wednesday.
TOI had reported this in its April 29 edition.
Asphalt on the sea link has not been changed since the eight-lane bridge was thrown open to the public in 2009.
The work will be carried by Mumbai Entry Points Limited, a toll contractor which has been assigned the responsibility of maintaining the bridge.
A senior official said it would be advisable to avoid the 5.6km sea link in either direction for the two days and instead use the road via Mahim Causeway Dadar, Prabhadevi and back.
The toll contractor firm plans to laying asphalt expected to last at least three years.
