Attur district will be carved out from Salem if voted to power: Ramadoss

May 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - SALEM:

A new Attur district will be carved out from the existing Salem district if Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) was voted to power, said the party founder S. Ramadoss at Attur near here on Saturday.

Meeting

Addressing an election meeting to introduce the party candidates E. Amsaveni (Attur-reserved) and A. Shanmugavelmoorthy (Gangavalli-reserved) constituencies, Dr. Ramadoss said the proposed new districts will consist of the Assembly constituencies of Attur, Gangavalli and Yercaud.

The people of Attur have been demanding for a new district with Attur as headquarters for a long time and PMK will fulfil their demand, he said.

Dr. Ramadoss said that PMK if voted to power will accord priority for education and health schemes.

Medical treatment

It will ensure top-class medical treatment even for the poorest of the poor.

Earlier, speaking at another meeting in support of Selvam, PMK candidate of Yercaud (reserved) constituency, near Vazhappadi bus stand, Dr. Ramadoss said that Anbumani alone will be able to deliver the goods.

He urged the people not to believe the assurance on total prohibition given by DMK chief M. Karunanidhi and the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on the issue.

Mr. Anbumani is sincere and he alone will be able to make Tamil Nadu a liquor-free state.

He called upon the party cadre to explain this among rural women and seek their support.

He said he has been touring various parts of the state and could definitely see a wave in favour of PMK.

The support base for the PMK will intensify in the days to come, Dr. Ramadoss added.
