Odisha to create 1 lakh acres land bank by June 30

The Odisha government has asked all District Collectors to expedite the process of identifying land patches for facilitating industries as the State intends to create a land bank of at least 1 lakh acres by June 30 next.

To attract investors for establishment of industries, the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) is mandated to create a land bank.

The IDCO has so far filed requisition for government land measuring 76,721.944 acres under the land bank scheme in 22 districts. As per the Odisha Space Application Centre (ORSAC), 2,21,339.765 acres of land is available in all the 30 districts for acquisition under the scheme.

Accordingly, out of the total filed area, 12,698.930 acres of land has been prioritised as Category A -- immediately required for establishment of industries and 64,023.014 acres as Category B -- to be kept as reserved at the district level for industrial purpose.

As of now, highest 14,396 acres of land have been identified in Koraput district while requisition has been filed for 8,188.240 acres in Cuttack district.

As far as preferred industrial destination is concerned, 2,493.377 acres in Keonjhar district has been identified under Category A. It is followed by Cuttack with 1,868.670 acres.
