The wounded have been identified as Veera Mani (23), a B.Com. student and a resident of Vrindavan Nagar in Madivala and Mani Selvan (25), a resident of Madivala, who works in a printing shop.

The duo was rushed to St. John’s hospital by their friends. Veera Mani, Mani Selvan, Prashanth, a student whose birthday was on Saturday, and Vivek, had come to a tea stall near the hospital.

Two unidentified persons, believed to be in an inebriated state, also arrived at the tea stall.

Veera Mani, in his complaint to the police, alleged that his two friends were watching pictures and videos of the birthday party on a mobile phone when one of the men, mistaking them to be video graphing them, demanded to see the phone.

Heated argument

Heated argument ensued and resulted in the stabbing of Veera Mani and Mani Selvam. The miscreants then fled from the spot, added the police.

The Madivala police have registered a case of attempt to murder and efforts are on to nab the miscreants.
