Adulterated cement selling racket busted; 445 bags seized, 3 arrested

JAMMU, May 1: Khour police busted illegal cement selling racket by arresting three persons.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Gittan Sharma, son of Daya Ram, a resident of Camp Khour with police station Khour on April 20 regarding illegal trade of cement.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 33/16 under Section 420 RPC and 92 Trade Act was registered at Khour police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, on April 22, Ajit Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal of Kaloi RS Pura was arrested along with truck bearing registration number JK0AT/0572. On his disclosure, 75 bags of Ambuja cement were recovered from the shop of Madan Lal, son of Sandar Chand of Hamirpur.
During further investigation, the accused disclosed that he alongwith his associates namely Sanjeev Kumar alias Mantu, son of Tara Chand of tehsil Hiranagar and Deepak Raj, son of Faqir Chand of tehsil Bishnah use to buy sartaj and soldier quality cement from the mini plants of Kathua and after arranging the original used bags of Ambuja quality cement, they refill the cement in these branded bags at rented shops and godowns at Rara Ramnagar.
After packing the cement in the branded bags, the accused use to sale the cement bags (Ambuja) at Akhnoor and Khour. They were engaged in this business for the last several months.
Sanjay Kumar alias Mantu was arrested on April 26 and during questioning the accused revealed that they had started this illegal business in September 2015 and were arranging empty Ambuja cement bags through one of their co-accused namely Bablu Singh alias Kana, son of Ramroop of Bihar, at present Greater Kailash Jammu who uses to repair these old Ambuja bags by stitching them.
On this, a team from Khour police station conducted raid and arrested Bablu Singh along with the stitching machine from Greater Kailash.
Hunt is going on to nab the kingpin of the gang, who has been identified as Deepak Raj.
A total of 445 bags of spurious and substandard cement have been seized by the police. The gang used to cheat the customers and Ambuja Company by selling adulterated cement.
Police team led by SHO Khour SI Mohammad Iqbal Chagatta busted the adulterated cement selling racket under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinder Pal Singh and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
