A lengthy lockdown in a northeast London neighbourhood was lifted late Sunday afternoon.

Police descended on Cecilia Avenue Sunday morning and surrounded a home for most of the day, with heavily-armed tactical officers.

Residents were prohibited from coming and going and crowds of onlookers gathered along side streets to watch the drama unfold.

Police entered the home around 4:30 p.m. but returned a short time later. No suspects were seen.

The fire department arrived soon after to ventilate the home.

Police are tight-lipped about the lengthy lockdown.
