Sarv Khap Sarvjatiye Mahapanchayat today served one month’s ultimatum on the Haryana Government for releasing Jat youths arrested in connection with incidents of arson and loot during the Jat agitation for reservation.

The decision was taken at a mahapanchayat in the district’s Imlota village today.

An audio tape if a purported conversation between Sudeep Kalkal, one of the main accused in setting ablaze Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu’s house, and officials was played in the mahapanchayat.

Om Prakash Kalkal, khap leader who presided over the meeting, said: “We have formed an 11-member committee that will meet with President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demand revocation of cases against youths and their release from jail.”

The other demands are compensation and jobs to each family of youth who died during the agitation.

“A mahapanchayat will be convened after a month to decide the future course of action,” Om Prakash added.
