Kimi Raikkonen: Ferrari 'not fast enough' to challenge Mercedes

Kimi Raikkonen said Ferrari was "just not fast enough" to challenge Mercedes for victory at the Russian Grand Prix.

Raikkonen finished a distant third behind both Mercedes drivers in Sochi after Ferrari looked off the pace all weekend. After the race, Raikkonen admitted the pace of Mercedes was too quick for him to challenge.

"Of course it's not exactly what we want, we want to win races and put two cars as far up as we can, but we tried today," he said. "We were not fast enough for the Mercedes and then we had a good speed but with the fuel saving we had to take some measures so you cannot push as fast the car can go."

Raikkonen said Ferrari has not yet put a clean race weekend together to show its true potential.

"I think it's not very easy to pinpoint what we need, I'm sure there are quite a few small things that we need to improve and we know that there are some improvements coming, but Mercedes has been very fast the last few years and are fast this year. So far this year we haven't really put a clean race weekend together so that doesn't help.

"We definitely have work to be done and I'm quite confident we can be strong as a team and finish higher with two cars as we deserve so yeah we are disappointed but we are doing things. We are behind where we want to be."
