Kings XI Punjab's Axar Patel takes first hat-trick of IPL 2016

Kings XI Punjab's Axar Patel became the 11th bowler in the history of the Indian Premier League to take a hat-trick. The left-arm spinner achieved the feat in Match 28 of the IPL 2016 against Gujarat Lions at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday.
Chasing 155-run target, Axar triggered the collapse of Gujarat middle-order in the seventh over of the innings. He struck in the third ball to dismiss Dwayne Smith before his two wickets in last two balls of the over sent Dinesh Karthik and Dwayne Bravo back to the dugout.Axar then was brought back in to the attack in the 11th over and he removed Ravindra Jadeja off the first delivery to complete his hat-trick.
Axar finished with the figures of 4/21 to help his team beat Gujarat by 23 runs for their second victory in seven matches.
This was the 14th hat-trick in the IPL since its inception in 2008 and third by a Kings XI bowler after Yuvraj Singh claimed the feat twice in 2009 against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers.
Lakshmipathy Balaji, Amit Mishra, Makhaya Ntini, Rohit Sharma, Praveen Kumar, Ajit Chandila, Sunil Narine, Pravin Tambe and Shane Watson are the other bowlers to have claimed IPL hat-tricks. Leg-spinner Mishra has done it thrice for three different teams.
